Manager – Subsea Engineering
Position Qualifications
- 10+ years of technical background in subsea drilling and support systems
- 10+ years experience in floating drilling operations
- Familiar with current subsea technology and future trends
- Hydraulic, electronics and mechanical troubleshooting experience
- Have an understanding of mechanical equipment and machinery
- Familiar with at-sea operations
- Experience with all appropriate computer software.
- Willing to travel
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure the internal and external preservation and monitor all subsea equipment, to ensure compatibility.
- Advise on the following equipment: riser and riser handling tools, crown- mounted compensator motion compensation equipment, surface unit high pressure hydraulics, electronic controls for BOP, subsea controls, Christmas trees, and all equipment associated with the subsea stack and surface control units.
- Demonstrate knowledge and perform all aspects of maintenance, repair and upkeep on all subsea systems and support systems, mechanical auxiliary systems, preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment, and equipment overhaul.
- Provide design input for: pulling the BOP stack, automated drilling systems, automated tubular handling systems, overall drilling operations to assemble and disassemble all inter-related equipment involved with drill string, subsea and surface support systems.
- Perform calculations, e.g. fluids, total weights of BOP and riser string before spudding, nitrogen pre-charge in accumulator bottles, water depths and its impact on equipment, heavy equipment, and evolution planning for operations.
- Demonstrate knowledge in drilling and subsea operational records, records of spare parts, and drilling reports on all subsea and drilling equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the filing system on all drilling, subsea, and surface equipment, including: blueprints, drawings, dimensions, specifications, catalogs, operating manuals, spare parts catalogs, measurements of subsea equipment in all assembled and/or operating positions, test results and/or testing log book.
- Submit progress reports on work accomplished with detailed reports on breakdowns, operational requirements or improvements needed, and follow the maintenance program along with rig maintenance personnel.
- Assist other department personnel on all on-going projects.
- Monitor all costs and maintain budget.
- Monitor and/or correct any design discrepancy related to personnel safety.
- Supervise and monitor design output related to drilling, subsea or surface support.
- Assist project teams with installation and commissioning of subsea equipment and monitor vendors building new and repairing existing equipment.
