Project Manager - Engineering
Position Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or equivalent experience.
- 10 years experience in Petroleum industry.
- 10 years experience in Project Management and Scheduling software.
- Experience in managing multi-million dollar engineering and construction projects.
- Experience in counseling and mentoring of personnel.
- Experience in leadership and management techniques.
- Strong independent thinker, familiar with process improvement and process consulting.
- Work independently and with groups.
- Communication skills.
- Willing to travel.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage and direct the activities of all Project staff and on-site/off-site consultants in the fulfillment of Project assignments, within budget and on schedule, and per established Company policies and procedures.
- Oversee daily Project activities to maximize scheduling and real-time utilization of resources; analyze and recommend part-time, flexible and full-time employee mix for the project.
- Prepare and plan Project budget and submit to Executive Management for review and approval.
- Provide written and oral reports of the Project’s requirements, processes, current status, and estimated progress to Executive Management, and any courses of action taken to overcome problems and/or unusual matters, as required.
- Assist with and/or develop a Critical Path Schedule using approved scheduling software (PRIMAVER and Microsoft Project). Schedule based upon equipment requirements, cost, and manpower needs. Incorporate and integrate all aspects of engineering, procurement and construction into the master schedule. After development of the Critical Path Schedule, submit to VP – Engineering, Project Management and Construction, for review and approval.
- Lead both design and review sessions with technical and business personnel, including all levels of management.
- Establish and maintain customer and client relationships.
- Review on-going performance results to targets, takes corrective measures, escalate as necessary, while maintaining effective, open, and regular communication with Engineering Department management.
- Communicate areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned.
- Determine standards of performance as a basis to review progress of personnel assigned.
- Recommend transfers, promotions and dismissals; and ensures proper training of personnel assigned.
- Foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximize employee morale and productivity.
- Develop and present strategies for performance improvement and cost savings for the project.
- Assist with coordination of logistics to and from the job site/shipyard during the Project’s time frame, and conduct asset disposal as required for Project related equipment.
- Provide recommendations regarding specific concerns raised by management.
- Facilitate/conduct new equipment Design (SOR) Evaluation Meetings.
- Review, approve, and make periodic inspections of Project procedures and specifications.
- Develop AFEs on contract bids, and submit the Final AFE Report at the completion of the project.
- Recommend/select vendors and consulting personnel for the project, and review/assess vendor proposals.
- Make recommendations for any additional Scope of Work that may be needed.
- Track, review, and approve all invoices, specifications, timesheets, and change orders, as well as controlling open purchase orders related to the project.
- Control and monitor actual vs. budgetary performance, and notify executive management of potential budget deviations prior to financial commitments.
- Review expense reports submitted by project personnel, and review and approve any project overtime or temporary staffing expenses.
- Interface with all departments in the performance of job functions, and assist as needed.
- Interface with suppliers on cost, specifications and delivery of material and equipment.
- Other duties/projects as assigned by senior management.
