Worldwide Electrical Maintenance Superintendent - Western Hemisphere
Position Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 10 years’ experience in the design application and field engineering of major electrical and mechanical systems.
- In-depth knowledge of the application, design and maintenance of drilling rig electrical and mechanical equipment and systems.
- In-depth knowledge of control and instrumentation systems.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of machinery and systems as applicable to the ABS “Rules for Building and Classing MODU’s”.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of rules related to industry application of societies rules, such as the IEEE/NEC/IEC/ANSI/ISA/API/ASME.
- Familiarity with actual rig operations.
- Knowledge of machine shop techniques and procedures.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform machinery and rig systems design work, as required.
- Perform problem analysis work on machinery and electrical systems.
- Evaluate/inspect overhauled equipment (mechanical and electrical systems).
- Oversee outside designers in the design of “Power and Control Systems.”
- Perform new equipment evaluation / construction / installation.
- Manage rig construction re-fitting and re-activations and repair existing equipment as assigned.
- Assist in development of AFEs and/or assist with detail writing for contract bids.
- Develop/ensure quality standards/inspections and certification (includes certification documentation).
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and repairs to machinery and equipment, as directed.
- Develop, write or review purchase orders for electrical/mechanical equipment as assigned.
- Meet with outside vendors to discuss equipment design and manufacture.
- Keep abreast of equipment costs and obtain equipment quotes, as required.
- Communicate with company agents and local help for international operations.
- Communicate with the engineering departments of various vendors to ensure proper standards.
- Provide engineering support to divisional operations as authorized.
- Assist in development/modification of technical advisories, Noble rig policies/operating procedures, equipment operating procedures, updates rig operations manuals, and repair procedures for Noble equipment, as required.
