Assistant Manager - Logistics
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree relevant to the field or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years experience in operations and/or logistics management, industry experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills in SAP, database and spreadsheet applications (Excel, Access).
Position Responsibilities
- Aid in the development, maintain and communicate written policies and procedures (standard operating procedures) with freight forwarders governing import/export of materials and equipment for each operational area.
- Aid in the development of ideas in coordination with the supervisor and division management for reduction in transportation costs and efficiency of the supply chain system.
- Aid in the development of and maintain specific management oversight reports on a monthly basis to be submitted to the supervisor.
- Costs and trends on various types of freight
- Frequency of import/export discrepancies/system failures
- Totals for all tariff costs by country/division
- Aid in management of freight movement closely with project engineering teams to insure the most timely and cost effective modes of transport of equipment and materials.
- Identify opportunities for charter, part charters etc. for cost savings
- Participate in negotiations for various air and ocean freight contracts including charters, part charters, etc.
- Coordinate all activities closely with the purchasing, inventory, risk and data managers.
- Develop documents for all processes/procedures.
- Monitor scheduling of equipment deliveries for projects
- Monitor tariffs and freight invoice approvals as directed by supervisor.
