Hibernia Platform
Noble was awarded a contract in 1994 by Hibernia Management and Development Company Ltd. ("Hibernia") for offshore production drilling and related services. Noble operates and maintains two state-of-the-art platform rigs installed on a concrete gravity-based structure built specifically to develop the Hibernia field off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. The gravity-base structure (GBS) was towed to its offshore location in June 1997, produced first oil in November 1997, and has in recent years averaged production in excess of 200,000 bbls/day. The GBS has a well-slot capacity of 64 wells. It is expected that all 64 slots will be drilled, and up to 20 additional slots reused over the drilling life of the platform. More than 130 Noble personnel are directly employed on the Hibernia project.
